17th April I went to Starbucks for a walk-in interview. The next morning, got a wake up call from the manager there telling I got hired for barista position. Jumped out of bed and did some victory dance moves, twerk a little here and there lol..texted Mr. Yusri from Pallet Cafe right away, agreed on the working hours. 4-5 hours later he replied 'Welcome to the family!' I got hired twice in one day!
I know I was being really greedy there..but why not having two part time jobs at a time? I'm not sure if I can actually do both since Starbucks don't really provide fixed working shifts for staffs but hey I'm gonna try and plan this out.
So at 11 a.m. I went to Starbucks. Wearing black-jeweled flats, nude Mango blouse and Forever 21 black skinny jeans. While the manager, Mr. Radi actually told me to come with black shoes, black pants and black/white collared shirt...but umm at least I wore the closest to the outfits criteria. I blame on being an art student who don't really follow the regulations and rules!
Mr. Radi briefed me about working at Starbucks, what are the vision and roles, stuffs like that. Then we had coffee tasting. He asked me to describe the aroma and taste. Like WOW. In my head I was like...'oh okay I see it's getting a lil bit though right hereee'. I just went with it although I know nothing about coffee.. 'Hmm. It smells like herbs?' He said 'Herbs?Yes..very good' Awe I was pumped up with the compliment and I just rant on likee..'it's definitely has bits of chocolate mixed in..and it's very strong bla bla bla anything I could make up of'
After the briefing and coffee tasting was done, he was like 'Ok I think that's all for today. When do you think you can start working?'..Umm I thought today is the day?..No today is just the introductory..Can't I work today though? I mean, I'm already here and I have nothing to do...OK but your shoes are not right, it is supposed to be fully covered shoes...What if I go and buy the appropriate shoes right now, do I get to work today?...He smirked. It's up to you Khayrin..OK I go to Bata now and buy the right shoes..and he was like OKAY.
I went to Bata but oh shit, they don't have my size since I have giant feet. Called my mom and she brought my old pair of black Converse, well that would do. Wore it and went back to Starbucks. Mr. Radi said it is still not the right one but should be okay just for today.
So I started my shift right away at 12 p.m. Starbucks drained every bit of me. It is only the first day but in 6 hours time, I've done uncountable of buzzing (cleaning tables and arranging chairs), mopping the floor twice, dishes everytime after buzzing, stock up ice box twice, - not to mention I had to crush it first, labeling, mix ingredients and throwing out garbage.
The staffs are hella funny hella nice. They all checking up on me and making convos, teaching me stuffs and all. Thiana was so nice, just now we had to put choclate chips in a container and I was like 'Can I taste some?' She was like nawwww saying CCTV is everywhere to catch us red handed lol but then she dragged me to the kitchen and pour like 4 chip chocolates into my hands. OMG I was so touched, really. Not that I want to actually eat it, I just wanna have a taste hihiks. Then we had second coffee tasting and it was so good Ijust can't stop sipping like a baby...
Oh during break time, I went to French Kisses Cafe upstairs to meet Hidayah, a worker there that I made friend with the last time I went there. I totally surprised her because I didn't inform her earlier that I got a job at Starbucks, Today is just so good, just so GOODDD
